The Farms
Denis Montanar descends from a family of farmers who have worked this same land in Friuli for four generations. He has been working in this industry since 1989 when he first started renting his grandfather’s vineyards. Most of these vineyards were cultivated by means of sharecropping by his great-grandfather in the beginning of the 1900s. A few years after he started, he purchased 2 hectares of land for planting vineyards and in 1995, he decided to expand his property again acquiring an additional 10.5 hectares of land, which also included farm houses. The idea of a “Territorial Brand” comes from the long-time name of the area: Borc Dodon (in the Friulan dialect).
In 2013, Denis decided to brand the company using his own name: Denis Montanar. The brand stays true to the three fields used to cultivate his products: Borc Dodon, Borc Sandrigo and Scodovacca. The wine labels and all official company communications were revised to reflect the official change to the brand Denis Montanar.
